We were approved on spot for I-130 and were told that I-485 needs further review due to new nation wide guideline. It’s been about 24 hours, but I don’t see online approval for even I-130?
We submitted tons of evidence without a lawyer.
Interviewer was super nice and felt like he knew it can be nerve wrecking for anyone, so he constantly tried to make us feel comfortable. Asked the petitioner (USC wife) basic questions:
Started with DOB of both of us.
- How did we meet
- When was the first date and where
- Who proposed and where
- When was your last trip and where
- How long between dating and marriage
- When did you get married and where and how many people came.
- Is this your first marriage (yes)
- Did you go on a honeymoon
Then he said I’m going to approve I-130
Then he moved to I-485 questions directed at me:
- Yes/no eligibility questions.
- Were you ever subject to secondary inspection upon rentry? I was once, but it was when I re-entered with Advanced parole.
- He asked me what do I do for work.
- Is our household income and assets still the same.
- Is this your first marriage (Yes)
In the end he said that I-485 case will be held for review due to a nation wide guideline and I was pretty chill at this point and nodded along and said something like I understand, everyone needs to be checked against some new FBI database. The officer didn’t really smile anymore at me and on reflection I think I should have avoided saying that 😂
