98 3.0 4x4 270k miles

Replacing inner and outer tie rods and all 4 ball joints bc started a death wobble after i replaced the wheel bearings 2 weeks ago. Found this under the boot behind the inner tie rods. First pic is driver second pic is passenger. When i pulled the driver side it had the distinctive carbon smell that i associate with pulling the head off a motor. I just checked and im low on power steering fluid so im assuming its the rack but someone please tell me its not😭 i spent 400 2 weeks ago on bearings and another 200 for the suspension stuff im installing now
