Backstory: Hi, I have a 98 sedan with an M43b18. I bought it with 195k km with very good service history, but we suspect it hadnt been driven much for a while (not more than a year) I have redone the entire cooling system, ignition coil, spark plugs and some vacuum parts.
The problem: It misfires (I think from one cylinder) for about 10 seconds when cold starting, and also misfires when pulling hard when it’s not fully warmed up. It also leaks from the cooling filler cap when pushed hard even though it’s new, so we suspect it builds too much pressure somehow. I tested compression today and they were all around 14-15 bar.
I’m praying it’s not the head gasket so I want to try everything else first. I haven’t done the disa valve yet, and I’ve heard that’s a common issue, so I’ll probably change that next when I have money.
Can anyone please suggest other things to test next? I will answer any questions necessary.
