I feel like every season this happens, but the reaction to the new girls lately has been so harsh.
It’s like they walk into the house and immediately have to be perfect, funny, unproblematic, stylish, loyal, entertaining… all at once. And if they’re not, the sub turns on them within like one episode.
I also feel like the criticism goes way beyond actual behavior sometimes and turns into nitpicking everything they do, say or wear. Not every new person is going to land right away, especially in a group that’s already established.
At the start of the season, Bailey was being called annoying and accused of not understanding boundaries, when now it feels like she was just accurately calling out what she saw. Mia was labeled boring, but she clearly just needed more time to settle in. And people are going after Dara and Sabrina in extremely aggressive ways for what... dating guys who are cast members. So many people come on reality TV that way, it is literally nothing new. And in defense of Sabrina, she's stirring the plot, and she's annoying Mandy. By the way, it's clear Mandy is playing in everyone's faces this season, so direct that energy to her, please.
The only girl people seem to like is Levi, but that’s probably because we’ve seen so little of her. If she had more screen time, I’m sure people would find reasons to pick her apart too.
I don’t remember people being this harsh to Lexi, or even to West with all of his mess in his first season. Like what happened this season that we hate all the new girls?
