I went on a 3 night trip with my knitting/craft besties to visit the town of Kalmar in Sweden. We took the train (5h) and stayed at a hotel. The weather was 10-14 degrees, mostly sunshine, one cloudy day, always windy but no rain. We went to museums, sat in coffee shops and knitted, visited yarn shops, took a road trip over to Öland.
I packed in my old Rapha backpack from 2015 which I used to use for my bike commute. They don't produce that model anymore, but it seems to correspond well with their Super Domestique Backpack (26L). I also bought a leather handbag, medium sized, which fits a small knitting projects, sunglasses, wallet, phone, a snack.
I wore the same outfit every day: uniqlo pants, black tshirt, Poet Sweater, knitted wool socks, uniqlo light down jacket, Kaarina shawl.
What was good:
I was warm and comfortable every day.
It was nice to have the gym outfit with me, we did two workout sessions at the hotel gym.
I could fit everything within the small pack, which was very convenient on the trains.
What could be improved:
The backpack held everything but with very little margin. My friend bought 2 sweaters worth of yarn and if I had wanted to do that, I would not have been able to fit it in. "fortunately" I only bought 2 skeins of sock yarn so I managed.
I should have bought another sweater to mix it up a bit. I'm not a fashionista so I was fine with the same outfit every day, but it would have been fun to showcase another sweater as well.
My conclusion is that while I did fit everything into this backpack, I should have picked my Osprey Daylite and compressed the hell out of it on the way down. Not the first time I come to this conclusion, maybe some day I'll actually learn!
