Starting cold

Has anyone started CrossFit having not really done any proper exercise for ages? I used to be in decent shape, then I got pretty out of shape and still am. So I was like fuck it I'm gonna sort this out and joined a CrossFit gym. And it's just way too hard for me even with novice scaling. I'm inclined to just beaver away with home workouts for a month or two then go back... I feel like I just can't get the most out of it without at least a base level of stamina and my body being vaguely used to having to work. Does that make sense or do I need to just fight through the pain for a bit?

I'm starting to get annoyed with the discussion around physicality in the premier league, specifically regarding whether a player would "make it in the premier league". This is much more commonly applied to players who already don't rely on physicality (small players), whereas it should be the opposite. A small number 10 who is outmatched physically already has shown that they can perform well at a physical disadvantage, so there should be less concern about how well they'd transfer. A player who relies on bullying opponents in a weaker league will potentially no longer be able to do that, so it's more of a concern.

People are obsessed with sentiments like "the premier league is getting more physical, so we need to be more physical than everyone else", and in that setting the advantage is in finding players who have proved they don't care about being physically disadvantaged/can compete against players who are better than them physically. This is totally obvious to me. Why would you accept just succumbing to your wage budget and taking the 14th most physical midfielder you can find because then you'll be able to overrun enough of the league to stay up maybe. It's just mental isn't it?
