My employer bought a “new-to-us” Trumpf TrumaBend V170 that runs with Delem DA-56 from 1999. Compared to the Hydra Press we had, it’s pretty badass. However- our biggest product is diamond plate treads. On the Hydra press, we coined 2 out of 3 bends. With the Trumpf, I was told not to coin, only air bend. I have no angle sensors or anything like I’m supposed to have to help get consistent bends (as consistent as you can get with diamond plate). Tonight I pulled out the 4-way die we coined with on the Hydra to try out coining on the Trumpf.
Anyone have experience or tricks with getting consistent bends? Ive asked for the sensors but got told they’re $3,500+ and break too easily to justify getting them. I’ve asked for rubber die inserts to try to see if that helps but got told “it’ll be awhile till I can get them”. Anyone have any similar presses with angle sensors that can tell me if they actually help with the DP or not? If so, I’m planning on talking with the Vice-President about having a meeting with the President and our CEO, where I could push for the proper sensor set-ups.
I’m at my breaking point… I’ve got over 1,000 treads to cut, bend, and fab in the next 2 weeks and I throw out at least 1/4 of the pieces I bend.
