For the last 6 years I have worked as a behavioral technician, helping autistic children to overcome dangerous behaviors. I’ve been at the top of the pay scale the entire time because I have a BA in Psychology, (graduated 2013), but the stability of the position and my hours is variable based on family availability, insurance, or simply graduating from working with me. I’m having a harder time keeping up with the kids as I get older, and know it’s not something I can stay in forever. Prior to this, I worked as a neuroscience lab technician for 4 years.
I’ve entered a period of stability with a reliable client that should last until at least October, and I’d like to use this time to figure out my next step. I understand I basically have the same credentials as a new graduate with no experience in other fields since my prior work was so hyper specific. But I simply don’t know what options are available in the first place. I’d be fine going back to school, especially part time for a masters, but outside of therapy, I don’t know what I could even go for.
Any guidance would be welcome. Thank you for your time.
