Now that I’ve been mowing with the X430 I can give a little more details of my experience with the mower from just an average - non tech guy.

Issues:
I have not run into any major issues so far. I have mapped 4 different zones and mowed them every day by lowering the cut height by .25 every day, started at 4.0 and I’m down to 2.0 now. Goal is 1.25 and let it grow longer through the Summer months.

I had a hiccup in the front yard with the mower almost going over the retaining wall that I have. It didn’t go over at all as I watched it fix itself. The result was uncut grass in the area that it was off. I found that the zone map that it was cutting wasn’t following the mapping as I had expected or hoped (using the NRTK)

I also had a problem with the mower not going to the edge of the map / zone that I had manually done. I turned on edge sense and now it seems to straddle the border, which is exactly as I wanted.

I did have to break up one of the zones into multiple zones so that it wouldn’t do a lot of back and forth in the smaller twists and nooks of the original zone. That was a better idea.

I do notice that it misses grass blades and some patches here and there. But if I’m mowing daily and eventually bi-daily it should get them.

Battery:
Battery life has been great so far and I haven’t had any issues. Able to do my whole 10k sq ft lawn on a single charge.

Cut Quality:
As for cut quality. If you are a lawn care nut and want an absolute perfect cut and what you would expect from a push lawnmower, this will not give you that. Not that I think anyways. Though, once I renovate my lawn in the fall, I will be able to give a more definite opinion on that. If you’re looking for a well maintained lawn, I think the cut quality is fine for that purpose and that’s the purpose that I am going for. I used to be a lawn care nut, now I just want the lawn to be cut.

What I’m doing next with the machine:
Things on my agenda this week are to map and create a channel to the upper part of my lawn in the back with a pretty steep slope and a narrow pathway (about 2 1/2’ wide). Let’s see how that goes.

Things for improvement:
I wish the machine had some sort of air flow / lift to get the longer blades of grass to stand up and be cut. I feel like there could be some sort of retro fix or something for future models. Because these mowers use razor blades, there’s no lift and I think that leads to grass blades being missed

That’s everything that I have right now. I’ll update again next week for the steep slope and how it handles that with the narrow channel.

Can someone explain this to me like I'm stupid, because I am stupid. For the X430 I've been trying to figure out the difference between Edge Sense on and Edge Sense off.

I've done google searches and can't seem to come up with a coherent answer, or it's just that my reading comprehension is abysmal.

If I have edge sense on, does it overlap the boundary that I have made putting the mower middle (center) of the boundary? OR if I have edge sense on, does it put the mower right at the edge of the boundry that I have made. meaning my left or right tires are exactly aligned with the border that I have made?

I see so many beginners posting about how they don’t believe their DUPR reflects their true skill. They play a couple months and they’re winning rec games at their local park against people who tell them they’re 4.0’s, so they think “I must be a 4.0”. They then play a DUPR event or tournament and get handled. They then end up with a DUPR of 3.2 or 2.7 or something lower and they just can’t believe it.

Here’s the advice. You just started playing. Don’t play any DUPR events until a year after you’ve started playing. Learn the game. Work on your skills. Ask the best players in your area for their honest opinion of where they think you are skill wise. Then enter the highest DUPR tournament that you believe you can compete and actually win, not a DUPR rotating ladder, an actual tournament. Otherwise, you’ll be digging your DUPR out of that 2.5 for the next 10 years because DUPR blows.

Agree? Disagree? What does everyone else think? Curious on others opinions.

Coming from Lymow One in which I was a kickstarter backer. First day with Lymow was a headache. Literally didn’t get to use it because of the setup and the hours spent only to contact support after 3 days of trying to get it to work. They sent a second Lymow, more headache in setup and finally worked for about 2 weeks before dying. Waiting on shipping labels to send them back. Lymow support is lackluster.

Now to the X430 first day real review from average guy. Setup was easy, less than 30 minutes and it was set up. Had to update the firmware, Bluetooth, etc. That took about an hour. Expected since it is a robot and software will have to go through updates. Mapping took me no time at all. I chose to do manual because my yard has a lot of twists and turns. I mowed my lawn with my EGO first because it was overgrown. Mowing it down to a reasonable height. Then I sent the X430 to do a pass on my lawn to see how it performed. No issues, did the job and went back to the charger.

It’s only the first day and so far it’s a better first day than the first days with both of the lymows I received.

I’ll post again in a couple days with progress and how it handles going to my front yard to do that zone after I map it.
