I originally ordered the Tesla Model Y RWD, but I guess I got lucky with the timing of the new Model 3 Premium release. Ended up switching over and only lost the $250 deposit.

The estimated delivery on the Model Y was September–October, whereas I’m hoping the Model 3 comes in June.

I upgraded to the premium paint, larger wheels, and white interior on the Model 3, and it still came out cheaper than the Model Y — even after factoring in the $5k EV rebate on the Y.

Honestly hoping the Model 3 arrives sooner too. Coming from SUVs my whole life, this’ll be my first sports sedan, so I’m pretty excited.

That said, if I had kids or needed the extra space for a family, I would’ve gone with the Model Y no question. But the new Model 3 just feels a lot more premium to me personally — the ambient lighting, speakers, full glass roof, cabin, and overall interior design just pushed me over the edge.
