I had to take my case saver off because I put it on slightly misaligned the first time, and couldn’t get the crank case bolt back on. I actually ended up messing up the threads on it in the process. But do i need to completely clear the surfaces of gasket maker before putting more on and reinstalling, and if so is there a better way to do it than using a razor/knife? Or can it look like how cleared off the case saver looks? Or does it just not matter, and a quick wipe down of the crankcase will be enough to hold it on?
