This is Obi Wan Kenobi, my juvenille beardie! He is so silly and fun and I love him SO much but I am a bit worried he is not getting enough to eat.

I am aware that juvenille's diets should be mostly insects. He gets a plate of mustard/collard greens every day along with 5-7 medium crickets twice a day. Once in the morning and once an hour before lights out. He gets calcium powder every other day, and a multivitamin and a treat once a week. Usually a few meal worms or some strawberries.

My concern is that he eats his crickets like a friggin PSYCHO! The most he has ever eaten in one day is 20, and he was still chasing the tiny tupperwear I use to transfer crickets from their container to his tank... he shoves his head inside and inhales them. He has even LEAPT from his basking spot to my hand to get the crickets as fast as possible.

I adopted him at the end of January, and the store clerk said he got 4-5 crickets a day... but my research has proven thats not enough. Unfortunatley my research has not concluded how many crickets is too many. One resource even said "as many as they can eat in 1 min"... I am pretty sure he could easily eat all 70 crickets I purchase for him each week in a min if I let him try 😭.

All that to say-

TLDR:

Does 10-14 crickets a day for a juvenille beardie sound like not enough or too many?

Thanks for any and all help! 🥰
