hello everyone! since i’ve been accepted to both ucla and cal as a transfer student, ive been going back and forth on which school is best for me! im a psychology major hoping to become a clinical psychologist working in a hospital setting. i’m from socal so ideally id want to stay closer to home. as of now ucla clears cal in almost every category for me (location, campus beauty, distance from family, vibe, etc). however, ive been thinking about which school would be best for my long term career goals. i’ve been thinking about kinda superficial things like “which school will open more doors” “who would provide me with more opportunities” and even “what will look best on my resume”. i’d like to make it known that level of prestige is not most important to me, and i acknowledge that i’m trying to compare some of the best programs in the nation. i understand what position i’m in, but as an overthinker i can’t help but think about how this decision will affect me in the long term. after undergrad i plan on going to grad school, so my higher education plan doesn’t end here! also, both schools are about the same price for me. just wanted some feedback from those maybe in the same position, those of you choosing cal over ucla, or choosing ucla over cal, and what that thought process was like! i would appreciate any feedback! regardless of where i go, i know i will try to make the most of the opportunities and resources.
