Before I go into the technical details, I want to add that a couple of months ago I had this idea of replacing resumes with pure skills for job searching - wanted a different approach to a "job site + search bar", mobile-first for both google play and apple store.

This will be a long post so, adding here a brief table of contents:

- 3 Real Scenarios

- Skill + Location based

- Unified user experience / interface

- Using the app for Hiring

- Using the app for Job Seeking

- In app Meeting scheduler module

- Your career in your pocket

- Link at the end

3 real scenarios:

1. You are a Mobile developer

- you go to a traditional job platform

- first thing you see is a mix of jobs - mostly irrelevant

- you start typing in the search bar and you start getting "related positions" meaning you get mobile developer but with a totally different stack - you use Kotlin but you might get 3 positions with react native, 2 with swift, 3 "mobile design" positions and also Kotlin positions.

- the real struggle begins

- you apply to each one by sending your cv every time

- you also move to other platforms and start the cycle again

2. You are a French teacher

- you go to a traditional job platform

- see a mix of irrelevant jobs - probably driver and construction worker as well if the platform shows the most recent jobs first (basically anything BUT French related positions)

- at this point the struggle hits you even harder

- you keep looking for the needle in the haystack - there's no other way (you need money for that morning coffee and probably accommodation costs as well)

- move to N other websites, create accounts and upload cv

3. You are a (Truck/Taxi) driver

- you go to a traditional job platform

- it's very likely you will see only tech jobs, or other more popular roles compared to driver roles (statistically, from a popularity perspective, driver positions are placed at the bottom)

- you probably realize you have better chances with local newspaper than using any online platform, or with a niche platform for driver jobs

- you find some potential jobs

- you start sending your cv left and right, you lose track where you sent your personal data

- hopefully you find something after a long searching process

There are countless examples like this, but this is the actual problem that got me started.

In any case, there are many factors that matter both the job seeker but for the employer as well, like location / salary etc but these are just extra 'requirements', the first important thing for the employer is to find someone that can actually do the job

I might add that waiting for a response takes quite some time, even if your resume fits one of the positions you applied to. This doesn't necessarily have to be a positive response, it could also be negative and both parties would at least acknowledge that they must move on. But this should happen fast, from both sides, ideally in a 1-4 days range.

Skill + Location based

Skills + Location

That's all the app cares about.

The system works in such a way that you can find a job anywhere, near your current location / a different city / country.

From my perspective, it's better to get just 2 relevant jobs you could actually get hired for, than getting 1000 stacked jobs from all domains, with the sole purpose of displaying something.

I managed to mask all the complexity with a simple and minimalist interface (the initial version) making it very easy to use and navigate. Including an in app smart cv, on device, easily shareable as full cv or customized contents (partial).

No need to "Upload your CV" - we dont do that

Unified user experience / interface

This is mostly self explanatory, you don't have to create different account to hire or to find jobs, you need 1 account only.

The main difference when publishing jobs is that you must affiliate yourself with a company through someone that actually works there and can vouch for you, or a partner that simply comfirms the affiliation request via email.

The affiliation system is meant to give you a Trusted Badge as a job publisher. There's a complex system behind the affiliation badge but it's meant for a separated post entirely.

Using the app for Hiring

You can hire in your area by default, even if you are on an island in the middle of the ocean which has a population of 2, you as employer and the other as employee (both using the app), it will do the job.

Just switch Job Publisher On, and now you are in hiring mode. This is supposed to work for any individual/user.

Being a job publisher gives you the ability to publish jobs even if you are:

- internal employee (the company you work for has internal positions listed, you want to get that referral bonus)

- recruiter / agency

- independent recruiter (maybe just a contractor)

- business owner

All are valid job publishers / 'recruiters'.

As a Job Publisher you can also use individual Job QR for direct matching, offline invitation or promote as public url.

Using the app for Job Seeking

This is straight forward, add some professional experiences and you're good to go.

This part, job seeking, which is the default mode for all users, is actually a solution that takes care of all the scenarios mentioned above.

In app Meeting scheduler module

This is the fun part. Every time you match a job, or vice versa, the next mandatory step is ti set up a meeting (interview). Why Meeting and not 'Interview'? If the recruiter is an actual Recruiter, they might want a 15min call, if the recruiter is a Startup Founder, that might be an actual technical or hiring interview, so Meeting fits all cases.

Your Career in Your Pocket

Local CV

Professional Experiences

Skill Endorsements

Jobs and Candidates

With every job you find (or candidate), you must set and have an actual meeting where you agree to move forward or just politely decline, so you both move on but at least you stop wasting time.

You can always share your skill graph, ask for skill endorsement as part of quickly showing someone how much you used that specific skill or if you need an endorsement to have even better chances for positions requiring that skill.

All in one app.

Job seeking and hiring work in sequence, you dont pile up job offers or candidates for later, you take care of each one, one by one.

Sharing the link here in case you want to poke around, I would appreciate some feedback, especially if you find something broken:
