Hey all, so I initially got a Denon AVR-S770H receiver mostly so I could handle all the HDMI devices I have with a single fiber HDMI cable while giving myself options in the future for setting up surround sound.

I’ve been kind of stuck though on deciding how to do it. Someone suggested in-ceiling speakers but I wasn’t sure that was really a good idea (were they right?)

I’ve attached some pics of my space and a couple ideas for what I’ve thought of. My TV is on a mantle mount, this kind of makes it so our center channel (if we got one) would have to be really high as there’s not really a good spot for one. I’m also considering rear speakers but they’d also have to be high as there’s no wall behind the couch. Thankfully the ceiling goes down into the kitchen leaving space to mount speakers at all but wasn’t sure how worth it it would be.

The blue idea I’ve drawn is just two stereo speakers and no center, maybe do a virtual center or something I’m not sure. Unless you think it’s still worth to have a center even if it has to be really high.

Please share any thoughts or ideas if you see a better way of doing this!
