Hi everyone! I'm about to buy a new car, and I can't decide between two specific cars. Both are manual, petrol models.

I've seen mixed reviews about Hondas after 2016. Most surveys even place Honda lower on their reliability lists from that year onwards.

I know the 1.0 T engine is not a reliable one, as it's a wetbelt engine. But how about the 1.5 T? Is that a better one, or still has some major issues?

One car I'm eyeimg currently is a 2018 Honda Civic 1.5 T from a dealership with 270k kilometers on it. Dealership says it is in good condition, and it was maintained, but haven't provided information to check it.

The other one is a 2016 Mazda 3 2.0 Nakama with 130k kilometers. This one is not a dealership car, so I guess I can get the service history more easily than with the Honda.

I know a lot depends on how well a car was maintained by the orevious owner, but I'm curious if anyone has some advice which would be the safest bet if reliability is the most important.
