Help me make a good choice

Recently my 2007 Honda Accord broke down again and I’ve decided I don’t want to deal with fixing it anymore. Now, I’m looking for a car but can’t bring myself to pay the amounts I’m seeing asked for. Can y’all help me find the right car and get me to understand how much I need to pay for it?

I’m a remote worker so I don’t need it for commuting, I just want a way to get to the range after work, pick up groceries, visit my friends (I do not live in a walkable city). I have only ever had two Honda sedans but I’m fond of my girlfriend’s CR-V so I’ve been looking at compact and subcompact SUV’s. I want something I could feasibly take out camping, fishing, and hiking so it needs to feel safe to drive in the mountains, rain, snow preferably. I plan on moving to the PNW soon. I am planning to put $10k down and can finance a max of $15k for a total OTD price of $25k. I’ve test driven and really enjoyed a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Premium and have since looked exclusively at Crosstreks but have been either missing the good deals before I can get to them or dealerships are asking for $25k used where a new car is around $27k. I am really keen on negotiating and trying to get the best deal and it’s prevented me from settling so far.
