Am i wrong?

Hey, guys. I need a reality check and i dont really where else to ask.

I joined a new group to play dnd and in session 0 and when i talked to the dm nothing out of this come up.

During session 1 two things came up that i was not expecting:
- Rogue (not me) attacked 1 out 2 bandits that were beating a 3rd npc,
attack fails (dont remember the number but it was not a critical fail). DM says that he hits the 3rd npc. (i didnt say anything but i kept it in mind for the end of session)

- I (barbarian) am in front of a 3rd bandit with the sorcerer 20 feet behind me. DM says i give him half cover. (again i said nothing i waited for the end of the session)

At the end of the session he asked how was the session and if we had any feedback so i started giving this 2 points, asking if they are homebrew rules or something that is new in 5.5e because i dont remember reading any of them.
He only said that he wanted to make it more realistic....

The day after i get a long message where he starts saying that he saw me be a contrarian (idk if its the correct word, message was in italian) and that the dm is not only the arbiter but a narrator and that sometimes things happen that are not in the rules (witch i agree to a point).

I could post a screenshot of the message but as i said its in italian.

None of the above were discussed during session 0 or when i first met him, so i'm just thinking of saying that i'm probably not going to go forward. I don't really like not having the chance to fix something because of "narrative".
