Whenever I show my mice something new, they aren't scared of it, they just straight up try to eat it. So I want to know how I can make my mice believe that whatever I'm showing them is alive and they can't eat it, like me. What do mice observe in order to figure out if something is alive or food.

First I was at home and my buddy threw some party at his house before dropping me off at school, at his house I remember realizing on my Chromebook I lost my badly drawn Hellboy taped to my Chromebook(I do actually have this) and tried to replace it some stickers. At school I discovered kids were supposed to wear black today for some event or whatever, I was bummed out because I have lots of black clothes and I like wearing black, but then the school shooting happened and we all pretended to be dead but the shooter just wanted us out of the building so my classmates and I evacuated safely while the shooters demanded money from the principal inside. Some girl (she is a real person from my school)got a cut on the side of her stomach and I got some antiseptic from a random teacher at a window, it was a syringe without the needle, (like those things people use to feed newborn animals) and poured it on the cut. Eventually we all entered a garage type thing but I was locked out so I could get away. I actually escaped by climbing around on a low gravity fence, it felt to magic I felt like a squirrel, but some bootleg joker with knives on his fingers found me, and in an attempt to save myself I asked him his religion and he said Christian AND Muslim, I wanted to explain why they contradict, and why his actions go against both teachings but I wasn't trying to get killed. I'm so thankful it was a dream, I felt so terrified. I woke up after he ignored my questions and attempted to stab me.
