Career paths after Ops?
What's up folks - I've recently hit a year in Ops (L4, huge achievement I know, don't let it go to me head lol) and have been considering my future plans both with the company and outside it.
So far, my experience with Amazon has been pretty good, all things considered, barring some insanity from getting caught in a site closure. Unfortunately, I have a lot of personal qualms about moving too high up the chain, and really don't myself in those shoes long term. I'm currently pushing for an L5 promo (thinking within a year or so, given the skills and performance I've put on the table) and I think that that point I may begin to seriously consider a change, with the highest I'd want to land within Amazon probably being L6. With the state of the US labor market (and within Amazon especially) I don't think I see myself being comfortable in somethings like a corporate role - too risky for me and the family to be caught in the next layoff wave. Have any of you made successful transitions out of Amazon with the kind of skills we end up with in Operations? I've heard that the pastures can be greener in terms of comp with other companies, but seeing is believing and I have yet to do so. Thought you all might have some insights!
Appreciate it, and good luck this week.
