I don’t have a torch setup at home yet. I can use the torches at the school where I take classes, but sometimes I want to do work at home that would require annealing. I have a gas stove and I was wondering, is it safe/possible to anneal over a stove? Not anything large, mostly just small bits of wire or sheet. I’m currently working exclusively with brass, copper, and sterling silver.

I recently started taking metalworking classes but I'd love to supplement my learning with some video tutorials. I'm particularly interested in metalsmithing and wire wrapping, but if you have any favorite youtubers who specialize in another jewelry related technique I'd love to check them out too.

A couple weeks ago I asked people in this sub which type of bracelet clasp they find easiest to use, and since there are probably other jewelry artists here I thought I’d share the results. After nearly 300 comments, these 3 clasps were the clear winners: fold over, fishhook, and hook and eye!

Lobster and barrel clasps were also both mentioned a lot, but there were an equal number of people saying they absolutely hated those clasps so it seems people are very polarized on those two. Toggle was also a fairly popular suggestion. The one thing we could all agree on is FUCK SPRINGRINGS.

This post also showed me how few people actually read the full posts before commenting because I said very clearly in my post that this was about BRACELETS and that I am ALREADY OFFERING magnetic clasps, and I got SO many comments telling me to make the necklaces long enough to go over peoples heads or to use magnetic clasps. Anyway.

Obviously everyone’s disabilities are different and everyone will have preferences but I find it very useful to know that these three clasps seemed to be the most popular.

I love horror, and I also have clinical depression, and it always makes me feel better to read books about people who are having a way worse time than me. I want there to be super crazy fucked up things happening and I want to be able to look at the characters throughout the entire book and go “Wow. At least I’m not that guy!” Bonus points if there’s a good audiobook version.
