I say "ok Google, set a timer for 5 minutes"

Google assistant replies "setting a timer for 5 minutes" and the response with a green tick appears on the screen. A few minutes later I'll ask if I have any timers going and it replies "looks like you don't have any timers running at the moment"

What is going on? Anyone else have the same issue?
