Need advice: student loan servicer reporting false delinquency and damaging credit
My student loan servicer, MOHELA, has reported my account as 120+ days delinquent to Equifax even though my account shows:
• $0 payment due
• AutoPay active
• Monthly payments made successfully
• No missed payments
Their own payment history shows continuous payments, but the credit report still reflects serious delinquency.
I first started dealing with this in October 2025. I filed disputes and a CFPB complaint, and MOHELA acknowledged an internal “embedded delinquency” issue and said it would take 90 days to fix.
That time passed, and the issue remains.
I disputed with Equifax again, but the delinquency was verified and remains on my report.
What are my next best steps here?
Should I:
• file with my State Attorney General
• contact the Department of Education Ombudsman
• dispute with all 3 bureaus
• consult a consumer attorney
Has anyone dealt with this and gotten it corrected?
