Hello, we recently moved into a house (northeast US) and seem to have an ant problem towards the front of our house on the main level. Don’t think they’re carpenter ants because they’re not very big, only about 1/8” long.

We first noticed them when they went after our cat’s food. After removing the food we’ve only seen a couple ants at a time here and there, but we put out terro liquid bait anyways. After a few days we saw them swarming the bait (pic 2) and stupidly killed them all instead of letting them do their thing. We put out more bait and are letting them do their thing, and they’ve been swarming it for the past 12 hours or so.

As you can see in the first pic, there is a buildup of liquid and white crystals on the floor. Should we keep letting them swarm? Or is 12+ hours of this active swarm too long? Should we try something else? Thanks!
