Attack on Titan is an anime that combines the survival horror of zombie movies and shows like the Walking Dead, but the zombies are actually near-unstoppable mindless giants, with the soldier camraderie from boot camp to battle like Band of Brothers and Starship Troopers, with the deep lore mysteries of shows like Lost, with the battle mechanics of Spider-Man web-slinging but with swords, with the fight mechanics of genuine Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu, with the intriguing espionage, betrayal and government conspiracies of intricate spy thrillers, ancient historical conspiracies revelations akin to biblical archeological mysteries, exploring the emotional and psychological toll of war and its philosophical implications, and the exciting action of piloted mech warfare, all while dealing with an existential grand plot that travels back and forth through time both literally and conceptually.
