A couple of days ago, my girlfriend was involved in a major motorcycle accident. An unaware driver decided to pull out into the street and come to a dead stop (hesitation to turn). Didn't even realize she was there and he blocked her only escape route.

She slammed into the SUV - She's suffered major pelvic damage (according to her surgeon, the worst he's ever seen), internal damage and bleeding, and caused her wrist to pop out through her skin and cheese-grated the bone against the cement. She survived through her 17 hour emergency surgery. Only a few more surgeries to go and she'll be on the road to rehabilitation.

She's stable, alive, and conscious and that's all we can ask for - but man, what an absolute nightmare... 4 months rehabilitation and recovery at a minimum, and loss of mobility in her wrist.

Please, for the love of God, remember to wear your gear. It saved her life a thousand times over and she is insanely lucky.

Edit: Someone mentioned a GoFundMe - we do have one set up and it can be found here:

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. Even if you don't donate, it means the world to me if you would PLEASE WEAR YOUR GEAR. You can see the skid of the bike if you zoom in. She had so little time to react, she did her absolute best, and she survived. You genuinely never know what can happen & when.

Please don't feel obligated to donate, I just want to spread the word and try to change one person's mind about wearing all the gear all the time. Everyone in this community is amazing. Please be safe out there.
