I used the same packet of basil seeds for both pots, but the leaves and scent of the two are different. Does anyone know of any common basil lookalikes that match the second picture, or has had a similar experience with growing basil from seeds?
The basil in the first picture has nice fluffy leaves and a strong sweet basil aroma. The “basil” in the second pot has no aroma that I can detect and has more rigid leaves. Please tell me I’m not just growing some weeds in this second pot :(
My phone identifies both plants as belonging to the same basil family, but I’m not sure where to go from there. The only main difference between the two is I am using compost in the first pot and potting soil in the second. Understandably, differences in nutrients will lead to visibly different plants, but that doesn’t explain why the second one has ridges.
