Outjerked By Nature - Hell Ants

A carnivorous Ant relative that had up and down going mouth parts, along with a horn to actually grind their food.

Not to mention how ridiculous their face looks. Did OP forget what an Arthropod head looks like?? It looks like an Anteater wearing tooth braces.

Carnivorous Ants and Arthropods with a "Jaw". Thats peak spec evo.

Nr. 20 - The First Apex Predator

In our universe, the famous Anomalocaris, a member of the Stem-Arthropod group known as Radiodonts, would become the first ever apex predator.

But In this world, the Radiodonts would never be a quite as diverse group, Instead close relatives of the arguably just as Iconic Tully Monster would take their spot as early, high ranking predators predators.

These animals would be known as the Kormodonts, with the Tully Beast being their version of the Anomalocaris.

Nr. 21 - This Is a No Bone Zone

On our earth, there are 2 types of fish, bony fish, and cartilouge fish.

On this alternate earth, the "Fish" however have not evolved either of these Internal support structures. This however does not mean that they were "hollow" Inside like molluscs or Arthropods for example. They still have an Internal skeleton, one out of calcium on top of that. But Instead of consisting of traditional bones, It has tough, leathery muscles, covered In teeth.

The teeth grow In segmented cups, making their "bones" fairly flexible and also allowing them to slightly coil and extend their bodies.

Their skull Is however a bit different In structure, as It only has 4 large teeth that cover the leathery capsule that contains their brain.

But they not just lack bones, they also have never developed jaws, leaving them stuck with a Lamprey like mouth.

The Snoot Fish Is a Boneless Fish that lives In shallow waters feeding on soft shelled and carrion.

They possess 6 flipper-like fins for movement, which Is actually pretty common for these pseudo-fish.

(I will upload more Alternative April posts from now. Sorry that I havent posted anything about It, things were a bit busy.)

This Is also the new pfp for the sub :D

I thought a Flish would do well, The Future Is Wild got ALOT of people Into the community and the Flish as a whole Is just so Iconic and beloved.

The Bushbilby pfp was of course only temporary. I´ll also get a banner done soon.

Alternate Evolution Is a very popular genre In the Spec Evo community and that for good reasons!

In this smaller Spec Evo challenge u get to design an alternate Earth where things went In quite a different direction.

Perhaps some animal lineages never evolved, went extinct or gave rise to entirely unexpected new species, changing the chemistry of the Earth to the point where It might not be recognizable anymore.

These prompts can be Interpreted however you like and you are also allowed to combine up to 3 prompts If you´d like.

This announcement might be a bit early, but hey, better too early then too late right?😅

As many of you know, r/SpecEvoFandom Is now under new management and will be pushed In a different direction from now on.

I originally created this subreddit as an alternative to the "original" SpecEvoFandom sub, due to the many Issues the sub has.

It had Manglisaurus as Its only active mod, who was always heavily disliked by a large number of the community and has been In big controversy as of recently. Additionally It was flooded with NSFW content and straight up porn.

-and for the fact that It was supposed to be for the -spec evo- community, there was basically no spec evo content In It. It was mostly paleo and a bit of creature design and analoge horror.

Over time It felt more like a place where Mangli could post their goonbait and traced artwork, as they have been getting banned In more and more subs.

(Not to mention this weird cult they formed later)

With a new main mod In the sub, many things will change over there, which made me question the future of this sub.

Of course Its good to have a back up just In case something Is up with the main.

But also, I feel like r/SpecEvoFandom wont be "fixed" with the rebrand. The rules havent really gotten any stricter as of writing this and It will probaply still be filled to the brim with non spec evo content and pornographic material.

The only thing that will really change Is that wholesome and spec evo content will be pushed heavier, still not sure how exactly this will happen, but Im sure the mods know what they´re doing.

While r/SpecEvoFandom will Improve alot over the next few weeks, It will likely still remain a very NSFW heavy sub, with more focus on paleo content then spec evo.

The problematic non-Mangli people are also still active In that sub so... how much CAN the situation even Improve?

I have decided that I am going to keep this sub up and running as before, as the other sub still has those very Issues.

This sub will essentially be the 100% spec evo, 0% porn variant of r/SpecEvoFandom.

Thank y´all for reading and supporting the subreddit!

I am currently working on some stuff for this sub, like spec evo challenges, to make this sub a bit more unique!

I currently dont have anyone for the second mod position. One of my IRL friends might be up to It, but they arent In the spec evo community, so even If they join I would still need someone who actually Is In the community.
