Hi all, I’ve applied to begin process to get the Bachelors of Education through UFV with the plan being for elementary school focused.

I’ve asked the people I know who are teachers these questions but am always looking for more.

The main thing I’ve seen/heard is how things have been trending since the pandemic and social media rise. Do you think this will improve over the next 5 years or keep trending downwards? In the elementary school setting is this not as much an issue?

Do many kids in elementary school have smart phones? When I was in elementary people didn’t get cell phones until grade 7, maybe 6 but that’s when blackberry was on top and iPhones were new.

Do you find it easy to leave your work at school and have a good balance for your own hobbies? I know the beginning years will be the hardest for this

With less people having kids these days is there a worry for job shortages? Or could this be a benefit to the school system?

How big of a component is dealing with parents, specifically in elementary? Is this dependent on your administration?

Are the reasons you wanted to become a teacher in the first place being fulfilled or has it become something you are questioning?

How much burnout do you deal with? Is it dependent on the day/week?

Those that have started families while being a teacher, how did your job affect things at home and with your own child/children?
