I wanted to recommend this fairytale reimagining series called Dark Enchantments that’s written by an indie author, Violet Jasper. She has fewer than 30 reviews for all the books on Amazon, and I really like recommending indie authors as they get their start.
All three books feature a plucky heroine who finds help or protection from the male main lead.
I’ve really enjoyed how each installment takes a different fairytale influence and twists it into something darker, more creative, and very fae‑court in tone. The world keeps expanding in interesting ways, and the author does a great job making each book feel connected while still giving every story its own identity.
Book 1 – {Fae of Ashes and Midnight by Violet Jasper}
This one is a Peter Pan meets Cinderella reimagining, and it hooked me right away. The world building was great, the chemistry between the leads was strong, and the fairytale blend felt fresh. It’s a quick read with a good balance of plot, steam, and character moments. Still one of my favorites in the series.
Book 2 – {Fae of Roses and Exile by Violet Jasper}
This installment is the Beauty and the Beast retelling, and it stays closer to the original fairytale than the first book did. I liked both main characters, especially Beauty, who has more depth since we met her briefly in the first book. The Beast has a gentle, loyal energy, and this story explores what made him become a brutal assassin.
Book 3 – {Fae of Curses and Dreams by Violet Jasper}
This one is a Little Red Riding Hood/Snow White retelling, but it feels much more like its own story — very much in the spirit of book one. Ryland and Daphne are great leads, and their meet‑cute is hilarious and, in true series fashion, a little violent. The world building continues to shine. Daphne being stuck with the oldest brother, Sion, adds a good layer of tension. There are also some fun hints of an Alice in Wonderland direction for the next book, and I’d love to read that as well.
These books are great for anyone who loves fairytales reimagined, and I love recommending an indie author.
