I am a guy on the gulf coast in the US who has been going to classes for an Associates in Applied Science in Machining/CnC at my local community college. I'm really worried about spending almost $10,000 and two years of my life and just ending up a button pusher. My student advisors don't really have any idea about the profession and cannot guide me on the things I need to actually focus on. I enjoy the work, so far. I come from a computer science background and have been enjoying programming and working in masterCAM (plus fushion 360 in my own time.) Can I get some guidance about what I should actually focus on to make a real, high earning career from this? If someone could also assure me that an AAS is worth it I'd appreciate it lol
I also have some loose dreams of getting this degree, getting some experience under my belt, then moving abroad as a skilled worker. Anybody have any experience with that?
