Is Silverspring actually bad or am I just not used to America?
I moved here about 6 months ago for a job reassignment and currently live at Logic Apartment because I don’t drive and wanted somewhere close to stores and essentials. On paper it seemed convenient and walkable.
For context, I lived in the Netherlands most of my life, and I’ve also spent time in California (Irvine and Santa Clara where most of my family are based), and I always felt very safe in those places. But ever since moving here, I’ve had this constant feeling of anxiety whenever I’m outside, especially during morning walks or jogs.
I can’t even fully explain it. It’s more the overall vibe and atmosphere. Something just feels “off” to me safety-wise compared to what I’m used to. I know every place has its own character, but I genuinely feel uneasy here despite trying to adjust for months.
Is this actually how the area is, or am I just experiencing culture shock coming from Europe?Curious if other people especially people coming from abroad felt the same way when they first moved here.
