I have three pairs of Mille GT C2 bib shorts (about 2.5 years old) I cycle through for my outdoor rides.
I just noticed there is a hole in one of them, just where the stitching at the chamois ends, and lo and behold, the other shorts are developing the same kind of hole in the same spot, on both sides of the chamois. Seems to be a weak spot in the design, maybe from moving my butt back and forth in the saddle.
I am aware as long as it was a current model (seems to have been discontinued) it was the cheapest summer bib shorts in the line-up, but I consider the 145 euros I paid back then still a premium price. All bib shorts are washed at 30 degrees in the gentle cycle in laundry nets (bags) with liquid detergent and dried on the rack.
I am gathering after more than two years Assos is not going to want to do much about it. And yes, I got some mileage out of them, but again, at this price, I was expecting them to last longer. They still hold up great in all other respects.
Has anybody else found this kind of damage with their model? Any luck and experiences getting it mended and reinforced at these spots?
Edit:
OK, so thanks for all the responses. I gotta say, I am somewhat disappointed with the quality of these bib shorts. Back when I bought them, 145 euros for a pair seemed like an eyewatering amount, and honestly it still is even after being somewhat desensitised by years of inflation. I justified the expense by telling myself it would pay for itself by lasting longer. And now basically all three pairs are goners after about 5.000k of use. I have had much cheaper bibs that lasted longer.
I will try to mend and reinforce the neuralgic spots with a neoprene repair kit as some suggested, but in the future it's back to second- or even third-tier manufacturers.
