Hi!

I’m honestly starting to lose my mind over this administrative process, so I’m hoping someone here might have advice.

I need to apostille my master’s diploma from a French university, but I no longer live in France. The issue is that the apostille has to be done on a certified copy, not on the original diploma.

A friend is trying to help me in Paris. They have my original diploma, a copy of my passport, and a signed power of attorney from me. But despite that, we still haven’t managed to get the certified copy.

At one mairie in Paris, they were told they couldn’t do it for someone living abroad, even with a power of attorney. Several notaries also told them that I need to be physically present because they need my signature.

The mairie suggested going through the French embassy in my country of residence, but the embassy website says certified copies of diplomas cannot be used for apostille purposes.

Has anyone managed to do this from abroad? Or does anyone know a notary in Paris who accepts this kind of process with a power of attorney and without the person being physically present? Or any other solution to obtain the certified copy without having to travel to France?
