Power scaling shower thoughts
So, I was in the shower contemplating stuff when I got thinking about the complaints about power scaling, ie this person should not be having trouble with this person.
And it occurred to me that fighting ability doesn't' really scale like that.
I will admit, at some point I thought Daki shouldn't be having a problem with the Inquisitors, after all, we know Ahsoka defeats them pretty easily later. All through Rebels she's seen cleaning the floor with them, so therefore a Jedi Master should be just tearing through them.
Except no.
We don't know about Daki's prior battles, maybe he wasn't combat focused, he was a pretty chill dude after all. Sometimes people get lucky, or unlucky. Ahsoka was in the zone when she defeats the Crow.
There's also external circumstances, we know at the beginning of the series that Daki and Devon are going hungry, to the point where Devon steals fruit, she even says he needs to eat. Furthermore, before he even meets Merrok, he's hurt in his fight with Maul. During the fight with Merrok he's got a million things to worry about, there's Devon, the Lawsons, a whole slew of storm troopers closing in.
It's not at all the same situation Ahsoka faced when she defeated the Crow.
And then there's Maul. He's wounded in his fight with Daki and the show makes sure to remind us that his knee is now fucked up. Considering how acrobatic his style is, hell yes that is going to be a handicap.
So yeah, now there's two inquisitors who are presumably well fed and rested against three exhausted and hurt fugitives. It makes total sense that this would be a problem.
And of course Vader who is absolutely toying with them. The fact that Devon and Maul manage to escape is a testament to their skill and luck.
Full text here though not more than the blurb since this is still in committee.
Reminder that "For Other Purposes" is standard language.
And of course this loser's name is Chip.
