I completed my Bachelor’s in Information Technology in 2025 with a CGPA of 2.91/4.0. I’m interested in pursuing a research-based Master’s degree (thesis-based, not coursework-only) in areas like AI, computer science, or data science.
My goal is to secure funded admission (scholarship or assistantship), but I understand that my CGPA is below the typical requirement for many programs.
Some additional context:
- Final year project: built a production-level mobile app (OnlyChef – a chef marketplace platform)
- Currently working as an Associate AI Engineer
- Have experience with Python, basic ML models, and real-world projects
What I want to understand:
- Is a funded research-based Master’s still realistic with my CGPA?
- Should I focus on contacting professors directly, or apply broadly to universities?
- Are there specific countries or universities that are more flexible with CGPA but value experience/research?
I’d really appreciate practical advice from people who had a similar profile or have gone through the process.
