Alright people, lots of posts about there $3-$4 rides with nothing but negativity. Yes, the ride share companies are absolutely screwing us over, and it is indeed horrible hourly rate at face value. However, as with many service industry jobs (servers, bartenders, valet, etc) this is typically the case, and tips are a big part of what makes each transaction worth the effort. Not saying that I agree with this practice, but for better or worse, thats how things are at least in the US.
Personally, I really see these short rides as an opportunity. You have 5-10min to make a good impression on your rider, and with some practice, you can easily convert a rider into a tipper. Examples attached.
And before ppl come after me saying I’m the reason for low pay: I’m not. Accepting these rides is something I only do in slow markets, but i’ve still managed to meet my earning goals by focusing on providing excellent service. And yes, it goes without saying that these results depend on your market, but I am just trying to give people something to consider.
Anyone else share this mindset?
