I have a contractor working on my bathroom remodel. How does this look so far? I am concerned about the waterproofing. I know he isn’t done prepping for the tile, but I was told that all the waterproofing needed would be this board and thinset mortar. I want to make sure there aren’t any glaring issues that should be addressed before he finishes up. I would like a basic understanding of what to look for and the right questions to ask so it is properly waterproofed and installed before he starts tile.

Main concerns:

- The gap between the tile backer and the tub flange. Should this be installed over the flange? If not, does the gap need to be sealed in any particular way or is the mortar sufficient?

- Should the corner seams In the backer board be taped / further waterproofed or is thinset mortar enough?

- What should be done with the hole in the corner of the backer board by the tub Corner?

- There are holes in the grout along the floor tile edge that meets the tub. Should this edge have been sealed with silicone?
