Hey all, just curious about how this would work from the petitioner side. I understand that Marijuana is illegal at a federal level and the applicant would be subject to federal not state laws so any usage could be risky if caught. But does the same hold true for the petitioner if they're a born and raised US citizen in a legal state? For context this is a marriage based case and we're hoping to submit the whole green card package within the next week. There's also no record of any kind associated other than the fact that I had a medical card a couple years ago.

I guess my question boils down to if I can still smoke while my partner is going through this process and I'm sponsoring them? If not, what about after the green card processes while we wait for naturalization? I'm really hoping I won't have to abstain for the whole 3 years, though if need be I could do a couple months for the green card. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with anything like this or going through a similar experience? Appreciate and advice/input, thanks!
