Neurodivergent Dietitians
If you are a neurodivergent dietitian, do you ever just feel so exhausted by the nuance of everything?
Like how on earth can I give cookie cutter care as expected when I can’t help but notice all the reasons why each patient case is so uniquely different?
I just cannot for the life of me give this over simplified explanation on something like weight loss when it’s so wildly nuanced and I’m picking up on all the reasons why giving this same old information isn’t going to be helpful.
The health care system wants quick compliance from patients and simple answers to complex problems. Sometimes I feel like I am too good at picking up on the complexities but no one wants to hear it. Not the doctors, other providers or even the patients themselves sometimes and so it feels like something I have to hold in because if I don’t, I’m disrupting the cranking patients in and out system.
Maybe it’s not uniquely neurodivergent. Maybe it’s just something you get good at after doing this for awhile but I truly refuse to give out dated blanketed advice that usually leads to nowhere to keep everyone feeling comfortable and not disrupt the ineffective health care system. I guess that makes me the problem. End rant.
