Hey everyone, I’m currently in the application process for the Inside Wireman program through PSEJATC (IBEW 46 area) and wanted to get some real insight from people who’ve been through it.

I ended up getting a 7/9 on the aptitude test without really studying, and now I’m planning to focus pretty heavily on preparing for the interview. For context, I’m college educated (business degree from the University of Washington), and I’m pretty comfortable speaking in interviews / not someone who gets nervous easily.

For those who got in or have gone through the process:

  • How much did your test score actually matter compared to your interview?
  • Did it feel like the interview was the main deciding factor?
  • If you’re comfortable sharing, what did you score (roughly) and how long did it take to get called?

I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions—some people say the test is just a filter, others say it still plays a role in ranking.

Just trying to get a realistic sense of what actually matters most. Appreciate any insight 🙏
