Approved for Amex after 2 Charge Offs!

About 8 years ago, I had 2 Amex charge-offs and never paid them back. I honestly thought I’d burned that relationship forever.

Over the years I focused on rebuilding my credit, lowering utilization, paying everything on time, and being more responsible overall.

Today, I decided to apply again and was instantly approved for the Amex Blue Cash Preferred with a $5,000 limit.

I wanted to share this because I know a lot of people feel hopeless after charge-offs, especially with Amex. In my experience, time and rebuilding your overall profile really can make a difference.

There’s definitely hope if you stay consistent and clean up your credit habits over time.

Also got approved for Gold and Platinum but too high of a yearly fee for me to benefit from.

Started Designing Websites for Friends and Want to Turn It Into a Business — Need Advice

I’m looking for advice from people who run website design/development businesses. I’m still in the infancy stage of this, but I genuinely feel passionate about it and would love to turn it into my actual career.

I originally started making websites for friends just for fun, and then realized I really enjoy it and want to help local business owners improve their online presence. My idea was to start approaching local businesses and showing them mock homepage concepts/redesigns to try and land clients.

The part I’m struggling with is the actual business side of everything.

For example:

- How do you professionally transfer a finished website over to a client?
- Do you host/manage it monthly or hand it off completely?
- How do monthly subscription models work for web design agencies?
- What do you use for contracts, invoices, recurring payments, etc.?
- How do contracts between you and the client usually work?
- What packages would you recommend offering when first starting out?
- What’s realistic pricing for a beginner who still wants to be taken seriously?
- If I also wanted to offer business cards/branding services, how would you bundle that?

I also don’t fully understand the hosting/domain side yet.

Right now, I’ve been building websites on Lovable and buying domains for friends I’ve helped. But what confuses me is this:

If a business already has a website/domain, how do you connect their existing domain to the new website you made for them? What’s the normal/simple process people use?

And another thing I’m nervous about — a lot of us are using AI-assisted tools now. How do agencies typically handle that conversation with clients? Do you disclose every tool you use, or is it treated the same way as using templates/builders/software to speed up workflow?

I know this is a lot, but can someone explain this almost like a beginner roadmap? I feel confident in the creative side, but the business/process side is what’s overwhelming me.

I’ve attached websites I’ve done below:

Is it even worth it right now? I have my MLO license but haven’t used it yet, I wanted to get my real estate license to understand the market and maybe network with a team for a bit before transition into mortgages. I can afford to not get paid for sometime as I have a weekend night job and also have support from my partner. If you’re new and just got into it or have experience would love to hear your feedback! Also what brokerage would you recommend in Broward, I would like to specialize in this area.
