Gotta love em SATs (sarcasm)
howdy folks! Bet ya heard a great deal bout the SATs n have a buckload of questions on it. Well lucky for ya I gotcha covered (lowkey just wanted to talk about my experience but here we go lol).
I'll just be blunt with the main stuff tbh:
1. How much does it cost?
Around 15,000 taka (price varies depending on the place of registration).
Yes you can register for the SATs by yourself, at home, with your own device. But some parts are kinda tricky if ur not familiar with how lovely (sarcasm) the SATs website can be.
FYI: The SATs website is called collegeboard, lol.
2. Do you need your own device?
It's HIGHLY recommended to use ur own laptop or tablet. Yes tablets work, oh but not all of em work. Some laptops like personal Chromebooks aren't allowed, so you should check if ur device is suitable for the exam.
How do you do that? Read Question 3.
Anyways, so when registering for the SATs they do give you an option to "request for a device". But there's no guarantee they'll actually be able to give you a device. Yes, I know crazy.
From my experience: I applied or well requested for a device but on test day I wasn't even asked if I had a device or not. They just showed everyone to their rooms, asked everyone to take out their devices and prepare said devices for the exam.
Low-key was a little terrified to ask for a device but THANK GOD I brought a laptop with me just in case this happened.
3. How do you check if ur device is compatible?
Simple. Just search "Download Bluebook App" in any web browser and find the college board website. Or just use this link:
https://bluebook.collegeboard.org/students/download-blueboo
Click "Download Bluebook now" and you'll see if ur device is compatible/allowed or nah.
4. Does on-site registration work?
Personally, I wouldn't trust it. Despite the official website saying we who requested for a device should arrive early and set-up our devices for the exam, we infact did not do any of that.
I arrived at like 6:50 am. The website asked us to be present at 7:15 am. But when we approached the gates (the entrance to where I was giving my exam) they said that EVERYONE will enter at 7:30 am.
Thank God I was panicking the night before the exam and completed my registration before test day on a laptop I borrowed from someone at 11 pm 😭 (Registration closes at 12am).
5. You have to complete your registration even though you already paid?
Exactly! Idk if it's smart or what but yeah.
But, so basically, 5 days before your exam aka test day, you have to open the Bluebook app on the device you'll be giving ur exam on and do a final registration.
It basically "sets up" ur device to be ready for the exam. Idk what they meant by "set up" because I didn't notice any changes to the laptop I borrowed when I completed my final registration.
It's free dw lol. I think it's just to make sure ur actually gonna show up, but hey I could be wrong bout that.
6. How long is the exam?
About less than 3 hours.
7. Can you change your mind and cancel the registration?
Fortunately, yup you absolutely can. But you'll only get half ur money back (Apparently).
8. Is there any guarantee you'll be provided with a device on test day?
Nope! That's why people always say to bring ur own. But hey if you can, why not contact ur exam centre and see if they really won't. Who knows, maybe they will.
Low-key tho, I really think you should just try to manage a device from somewhere rather than rely on them.
9. Do you need to bring/buy data, mobile data, hotspot, WiFi?
Nope! They'll (the exam centre) give you that.
Alrighty, now let's talk about the resources ya might want/needs to prepare yourself for the exam.
- OnePrep.xyz (not sponsored, wish it was though):
- low-key heavily underrated
- It's great for daily practice, learning and even for giving exams
- I used the free version and it rocked (it was amazing)
- there's thousands of questions
- you can upload ur stats from bluebook and practice specific areas
- you can select if you wanna practice easy, medium or hard questions.
- unfortunately it doesn't have an android app (only an iOS app) but it still works great on browsers (both desktop and android)
.....lazy to write more but hey ya can always ask me questions bouts it or check it urself.
- satquestionbank.org:
- Uses official practice questions from college board themselves
- Great way to literally just click a link, select what u want to practice and start practicing immediately (no sign ups, no nothing needed)
- yes this one has thousands of questions as well
- Khan Academy:
Yes they teach SATs stuff as well, but this one I'll only suggest if you either wanna start from the basics or just wanna see if u know all the topics in the SATs.
But other than that, my goat khan academy is kinda useless if u just wanna grind on the practice 😭
- The Official SAT Guide:
Low-key similar to khan academy: You should just use this to make sure you know all the basics + topics that'll be in the SATs. (Always use the latest version of possible)
Also, no I'm not suggesting that you go to nilkhet and buy one of these books 📚😐. You should actually just find the free pdf version of it online somewhere :D goodluck!!
- Bluebook (desktop app):
- Great for doing practice exams
- Only downside is that it's kinda limited (usually 5 - 10 practice exams every few months)
- yes it's entirely free (Actually I think everything I mentioned here is free lol)
- Gemini (Yes the AI):
Yup, that one n only Gemini from Google. It's quite eh at first but hey poke around a little and ask it for specific questions, issues and problems and you'll actually find it quite useful.
I tried out other AIs: ChatGPT, Grok, DeepSeek, Qwen, Perplexity, Manus & Copilot. And..... tbh I do prefer some of these ones over Gemini for other stuff, but for the SATs, Gemini was truly the underdog lmao.
Also, kinda new here and I'm not entirely sure on what kinda tag I gotta use for this post sooo.... using the one ur seeing ig lmao.
peace out folks !! 🕊️✌️
(Ask me anything ya wants, bout this!)
