Prison/Historical Horror

So I’m working on horror a novel set in a 1920s prison, and I am feeling a little stuck, so I wanted to know if anyone had similar recommendations!

Historical Horror is my preferred niche, and I’ve read quite a few titles that helped me to get into the right feel of my own story.

Some of the strongest comp titles have been The Reformatory by Tanarive Due, The Devil in Silver by Victor Lavalle, and (less horror, but really on theme dystopian) Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah.

Some other books I’ve enjoyed are Coffin Moon by Keith Rosson, The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones, Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman, and Little Heaven by Nick Cutter.

Any recommendations? Discussion is more than appreciated!
