LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: $1,000 USD
- Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? build quality, display quality and battery life are the priorities
- How important is weight and thinness to you? Wife will compare this to her favorite M1 MacBook, which is her primary machine
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Approximate 14". Does not want 16", 15.6" is pushing it.
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. none.
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? none.
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? User experience is huge. Good, bright display, higher res than FHD. Good battery and solid build. Won't use touch screen, only needed for using Epic remotely for medical work. MacBook won't work for printer compatibility issues.
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. She loves her MacBook. I wouldn't be shopping if we could make it work for printing. She can log on to Epic but not print remotely to her office with it. She has a budget Acer laptop that works for what she needs, but is a frustrating user experience with a terrible, dim display and flexy, creaky build quality. This is a single purpose computer, but I'm trying to find something that has a user experience closer to her MacBook. Budget is under $1000, cheaper is obviously better. Silver or pink (ugh) would be great - she won't like a dark colored fingerprinty laptop.
- I have been looking at the Surface laptop, yoga and vivobooks so far.
