Is your relationship with God a performance or a real connection?

Hey everyone,

I’m a 20-year-old journalism student and a Pastor’s Kid. I’ve spent a lot of my life thinking that God’s love was something I had to "perform" for like if I wasn't the perfect Christian, I didn't deserve it.

I just posted Part 3 of my blog series, The PK Perspective, and I’m diving into what it actually looks like to receive God's love. I used an analogy that really helped me: Dating. Just like you wouldn't know a person’s heart without spending time with them, asking questions, and getting to know their character, we can’t expect to feel the fullness of God if we aren't "dating" Him through relationship.

I’m talking about:

Moving from conditional love to unconditional love.

Why "trying to be perfect" is actually blocking your relationship with the Father.

The 1 John 3:1 realization that changed my summer.

If you’re struggling with "performing" for God or feeling like you're not enough, I’d love for you to read this. You can find it at CharityNelsonTV.com or check out the community I’m building on IG u/faithonthereal.

Question for the group: What does "receiving" God's love look like in your daily life? Is it something you struggle with too?
