I'm going to add an excerpt you guys tell me what you think! TIA!

The truck suddenly came to a screeching stop. Gravel crunched beneath heavy boots as the driver slammed his door shut and circled around the front. My door creaked open. I didn’t move. I couldn’t. Every part of me was frozen with fear.

He reached in and yanked off the blindfold. Harsh daylight stabbed my eyes, forcing me to squint. A second later, he pulled the rag from my mouth, and I gasped for air, coughing.

“You can scream as loud as you want out here. No one’s going to hear you. And there’s nowhere to run either,” he said, flashing a menacing grin.

Now able to see for the first time since being taken, I scanned my surroundings, desperate for anything familiar. We were at what looked like an abandoned factory. The building was large and rusted, with shattered windows and a giant metal door at the front. Gravel stretched out around us, and thick woods circled the property like a natural prison.

I recognized it. This place had been shut down almost a decade ago due to safety violations and hazardous conditions. We were on the outskirts of town. Isolated. Forgotten. Perfect for something like this.

He reached into his pocket, fumbling with a set of keys. As he turned his back slightly to unlock the door, a single, terrifying thought shot through my mind: I know where I am. I can run.

My heart thundered in my chest.

“One... two... three!” I whispered to myself.

I started running.

Gravel scattered beneath my feet as I sprinted past the truck, my legs moving faster than they ever had before. I didn’t look back. I couldn’t. I tore around the edge of the building, pushing my body toward the trees.

“Stop! Where do you think you’re going? I told you there’s nowhere to run!” he bellowed.

His voice was distant at first, but the pounding of his footsteps grew louder and closer. He was gaining on me. I pushed forward into the woods, my arms tearing through branches and brambles, every step fueled by sheer terror.

Leaves whipped my face. Rocks and twigs dug into the soles of my bare feet. But I kept going.

Then, through the trees, I heard it. A low rumble. A car.

A road.

I veered left, chasing the sound, lungs burning, heart racing. And then I saw it pavement. A narrow, two-lane road, I ran through the woods like a lifeline. And there, in the distance, a white car was approaching.

“HELP!” I screamed, stumbling into the middle of the road. “HELP ME! HE’S GOING TO KILL ME!”

The car screeched to a halt, tires shrieking. A man jumped out, eyes wide.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I COULD’VE HIT YOU!” he shouted.

“Please,” I sobbed. “A  a man he took me" I stuttered out sobbing. He took me to an old factory. I escaped. Please, he’s coming, he’s going to kill me!”

Before the man could answer, another voice echoed from the woods.

“Hey, Todd!”

I froze.

The man on the road Todd turned toward the voice.

“Hey, Rick,” he replied.

My stomach dropped, I started to breathe heavily while tears streamed down my face. “This can’t be happening!” “How do they know each other?” Is Todd in on this, too?” I thought to myself

“Thanks for stopping,” Rick said.

“No problem,” Todd said.
