I'm breaking up with my boyfriend who I live with. Our lease doesn't end until September. He will need to move-out. Between the two of us I am the only one that can comfortably afford our current place on my own. Ideally I'd like for him move out and get his own place as soon as possible, and I continue to pay the rent on own until I can sign the new lease as a sole occupant. This seems like the simplest course of action for everyone. Would there be any conflict with his name still being one the lease? Like does it hinder his ability to sign with another place? I'm just trying to work out the logistics. Does he have to officially break out of current lease?
