It’s been two weeks tomorrow and I miss him so much

Two weeks ago, our sweet boy, Maddux, started bleeding from his mouth, which we assumed was due to biting his tongue or perhaps cracking a tooth. We figured we’d have to get him in for a vet exam to get looked at, so planned to call the next day. We went to bed and he was fine other than the bleeding from his mouth, but in the morning, he was unable to get up off his bed and down the stairs without help. It was then that we noticed his eyes were bleeding. He had clearly gone blind overnight because he was bumping into us, and into things around him. 🥺I knew then that something horrible was happening. We called the vet and asked them to do a house call, potentially to PHTS.

They arrived in the late afternoon, his usual vet and a tech. We brought him outside into the sunshine, and the dr. confirmed that Maddux had internal bleeding probably from hemangiosarcoma or another aggressive cancer. He was not going to get better, and the vet couldn’t do anything to really treat him. We decided to let him go, as heartbreaking as it was, so he would not suffer any more. He went peacefully in our arms, out in the sunshine, under a big tree, covered by our tears and kisses.

It’s been two weeks tomorrow, and we miss him so terribly. We have no kids {unable to), so he was our everything. The house is so quiet, and I look for him in every room still. 💔 I love you forever, Maddux. 💞🫶🏻🐾🖤🤎
