College Decision help

I got into USC, but the financial aid they are offering (even though it's pretty good) would still leave my family and me under financial strain. I was considering going to community college for a year, then transferring into USC (I would need to do three years there, regardless of how many classes I take in cc, as my major is very specific).

I'm just worried I may be missing something, some downside maybe that I'm not aware of. (Tuition + cost of living would be around 30k yearly, so I'd be saving around that much.)

Is this a good idea, or should I go this year?

Also, my Mom lost her job, so we reapplied for the financial aid. Do I have a good chance of getting better aid?
